An economic development initiative, the Top of Georgia serves as a nonprofit fundraising arm that enhances the marketing efforts of the publicly funded Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority. It offers private individuals and companies a way to contribute to the economic well being of Northwest Georgia.

The Top of Georgia initiative contracts with the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority for marketing initiatives such as:

• print materials
• advertising directed toward site selectors, project managers, and target industry executives
• sponsorships for meetings at which site selectors, project managers, and target industry executives are present
• attendance at state, regional, national and international trade shows, as well as one-on-one visits with site selectors, project managers, and target industry executives who have expressed interest in bringing/expanding their business in Northwest Georgia.
